Jody Peterson Nominated as WITW Sister of the Year

Jody P
Our very own Jody Peterson was nominated as the 2018 Women in the Wind Sister of the Year! Her nomination letter explains why she is such an amazing person:

What is the best connection between the East coast and the West coast? Some may think it is I-70. Others say I-80. And some say the Chain of Rocks Bridge. However, we would like to say the best connection between the East and West coasts is our very own sister, Jody Peterson of the Rocky MountaIn Chapter. Jody is an integral part of many things surrounding the riding community. She volunteers with Combat Hero Bike Build and currently is serving as their Director of Operations. Last year she served as Road Guard on the Midway Route for Run For the Wall and will do so again in 2019. She is very active in Christian Motorcyclists Association and helps to raise thousands of dollars for their charity, Run for the Son. She is also a RiderCoach with Ride Like a Pro promoting safety and improving rider skills. She rides a HD 2000 Heritage Softail, Honda 2005 ST1300P and a Kawasaki 2012 Concours 1400.

This summer Jody and her husband Bill (who we all know and love) were hit on their motorcycles by an inattentive driver. While home and recovering, in addition to tending to all Bill’s needs, Jody took not 1 but 2 SOS calls from sisters on the east coast. The 1st call came from a sister from the Rolling Stones Chapter. Pearl’s daughter, Megan, was attending a conference in Denver, and while waiting to head to the airport, all her belongings including wallet and credit cards were stolen. She thought that her closest help was over a thousand miles away and phoned her mom. Pearl immediately called Jody who without hesitation told Pearl to send Megan to her house. Megan stayed with Jody for 3 days until she got things in order and a flight home.

Less than a week later Jody answered another SOS call from an east coast sister. Pat Meadors, aka Scout, was in route from the Canadian Rally to the Florida Chapter Challenge when the engine blew on her bike. In placing a phone call to Jody seeking advice on bus routes to Denver airport, Jody would have no part of it. Again, without hesitation, Jody and Bill hooked up their trailer and drove over 200 miles to pick up Scout and her bike. Scout stayed with Jody for 3 days until she could get a flight out. Jody stored her bike until Scout could figure out a plan to get her bike home.

Jody is always ready with a smile and a hug when meeting other WITW sisters. She is THE person we all know we can depend on in a pinch; no questions asked and expecting nothing in return. Jody has been a member of WITW for almost 20 years as a member of the Desert Curves and Rocky Mountain Chapters. She is currently, and has been for many years, Treasurer for RMC and our passionate Safe Mileage Coordinator. She was also instrumental in pulling off RMC’s hosting of Summer Internationals in 2017.
